Meet the Velociraptor, a dromaeosaurid dinosaur. These feathered carnivores were roughly the size of a turkey and had long, dangerous claws on their hands and feet. They could be found roaming what is now Asia during the Late Cretaceous period.
This dinosaur skeleton was drawn by hand and acid etched into the silver on the backside of the pendant, with residual etching artifacts around it creating the effect of the surrounding strata. The stone is magma chalcedony, with grey interspersed by trails of fiery hues. It is surrounded with a silver-cast fern leaf, fused silver "dirt", and a small silver pebble The pendant measures approximately 1.75" tall and 1" wide at the widest point. The raised points have been polished to shine, while the low points retain the oxidized color to show off the depth and details. All metal used in this piece is sterling silver.

A few notes on caring for oxidized sterling silver: oxidized patina on sterling silver isn't particularly durable to long-term exposure to water (like bathing or swimming) or a lot of scrubbing, as friction is the way to polish silver to shine. Constant exposure to tasks such as hand washing, bathing, swimming, washing dishes, etc., will slowly wear away the oxidized patina leaving a shiny silver finish.
