This book locket holds astrological secrets: the sun and the moon! ☀🌙
These heavenly bodies are represented by a bright, sparkly sunstone and a moonstone that is full of blue flashes. A brass star and brass sun rays complete the celestial gathering. They are encased in a book crafted from sterling silver and adorned with fused 24kt gold.

The cover of this astrological text has been stamped with it's title and star details; the star details have been gilded with a layer of fused 24kt gold. The cover is hinged in the front and opens to reveal the astrological contents. The inset border has been textured to mimic the pages of a book. The book's spine has ridges, just like the binding of ancient tomes; it is also decorated with a stamped crescent moon and stars that have been gilded with fused gold. My maker's mark is hidden in on the inside of the bottom border. The silver has been oxidized, a process which creates the blackened or antiqued appearance on silver. The raised points have been polished to shine, while the low points retain the oxidized color to show off the depth and details.
This pendant measures 1.5" tall, 1.3" wide , and 0.5" deep. This is a heavy pendant with a good quantity of sterling silver. All metal used in this piece is sterling silver, with the exception of the 24kt gold.

A few notes on caring for oxidized sterling silver: oxidized patina on sterling silver isn't particularly durable to long-term exposure to water (like bathing or swimming) or a lot of scrubbing, as friction is the way to polish silver to shine. Constant exposure to tasks such as hand washing, bathing, swimming, washing dishes, etc., will slowly wear away the oxidized patina leaving a shiny silver finish.
