A celebration of the moonflower, one of the few flowers who choose to exclusively bear witness to the beauty of the night. These mystical plants have long been used in medicine, poisons, and spiritual practices, as well as being a favorite of nocturnal pollinators such as moths.
This pendant features a large icy white topaz with soft internal shimmers - it is so hard to capture the play of light inside this stone on camera. Around the stone rest a dimensional flower, leaves, a spiky seed pod, and an unopened bloom. The backside is adorned with a crescent moon made of jeweler's brass and is stamped with my maker's mark. All of the silver has been oxidized, a process which creates the blackened or antiqued appearance on silver. The raised points have been polished to shine, while the low points retain the oxidized color to show off the depth and details. This pendant measures approximately 1.25" tall and 0.75" wide. All metal used in this piece is sterling silver, with the exception of the brass moon.

A few notes on caring for oxidized sterling silver: oxidized patina on sterling silver isn't particularly durable to long-term exposure to water (like bathing or swimming) or a lot of scrubbing, as friction is the way to polish silver to shine. Constant exposure to tasks such as hand washing, bathing, swimming, washing dishes, etc., will slowly wear away the oxidized patina leaving a shiny silver finish.
