This pendant was designed around the gorgeous Golden Hills turquoise, a stone so vivid that it almost doesn't seem real but is indeed completely natural! This stone from the hills of Kazakhstan was transported to the Arctic Circle as the pools of blue gradients amongst the dark matrix are reminiscent of glacial ice floating in the cold seas.
The stone is suspended it from a silver star adorned with fused silver dust for extra sparkle; the center of the star holds a flashy white moonstone. The backside of the turquoise is stamped with snowflakes and marked with my maker's mark (BLJ); the backside of the star is adorned with a tiny stamped star. The silver has been oxidized, a process which creates the blackened or antiqued appearance on silver. The raised points have been polished to shine, while the low points retain the oxidized color to show off the depth and details. The pendant measures 2.1" tall and 0.6" wide at the widest point. All metal used in this piece is sterling silver.

A few notes on caring for oxidized sterling silver: oxidized patina on sterling silver isn't particularly durable to long-term exposure to water (like bathing or swimming) or a lot of scrubbing, as friction is the way to polish silver to shine. Constant exposure to tasks such as hand washing, bathing, swimming, washing dishes, etc., will slowly wear away the oxidized patina leaving a shiny silver finish.
