A mysterious ship wreck, resting at the bottom of the sea... what tales could it tell?

The stone is a magnificent deep, dark teal apatite, full of striations like ocean waves and drifting sparkles (which my camera did not capture well). On the backside, a sunken shipwreck rests on the sea floor. This ship was built in layers with a lot of dimension, with woodgrain planks and mast, the remains of rope lines, and a kinetic brass ship's wheel - the wheel can be spun! The sandy sea floor was created in brass, with the tiniest silver seaweed tendrils growing below the bow of the ship. This pendant has been given an aged and weathered appearance, as if it itself has survived the sea for an untold amount of time; the barnacles have begun to claim it, visible along the edges of the pendant. The bezel of the stone is stamped with my maker's mark (BLJ). The ring for the chain features a twist design, used here to emulate rope. The pendant measures approximately 1.1" tall and 1.25" wide at the widest point. The raised points have been polished to shine, while the low points retain the oxidized color to show off the depth and details. All metal used in this piece is sterling silver, with the exception of the brass sea floor and ship's wheel.

There is a video on my social media pages showing a full view of this pendant, including the spinning ship's wheel in action!

A few notes on caring for oxidized sterling silver: oxidized patina on sterling silver isn't particularly durable to long-term exposure to water (like bathing or swimming) or a lot of scrubbing, as friction is the way to polish silver to shine. Constant exposure to tasks such as hand washing, bathing, swimming, washing dishes, etc., will slowly wear away the oxidized patina leaving a shiny silver finish.
