This hinged bracelet is an ode to the cherry blossoms, which begin blooming in Japan in March each year.
The three stones are rose-cut rubies with a vibrant pink hue and they are incredibly sparkly. The center ruby is oval and the shape of the two side rubies remind me of flower petals- I imagine them being the petals blowing in the wind after falling off of a flower. There are four cherry blossoms and each has two layers- all of these were cut and shaped by hand. The loop clasp holds onto the last (and smallest) cherry blossom on the branch. The flowers have been oxidized, a process which creates the blackened or antiqued appearance on silver. The raised points have been polished to shine, while the low points retain the oxidized color to show off the depth and details. All metal used in this piece is sterling silver.
The bracelet is an elliptical shape rather than a full circle; this helps keep the heavier top portion sitting on top of the wrist rather than spinning to the underside of the wrist. The total diameter of the bracelet when clasped is 7". Due to the elliptical shape, this bracelet can comfortably fit wrists between 5"- 7".
A few notes on caring for oxidized sterling silver: oxidized patina on sterling silver isn't particularly durable to long-term exposure to water (like bathing or swimming) or a lot of scrubbing, as friction is the way to polish silver to shine. Constant exposure to tasks such as hand washing, bathing, swimming, washing dishes, etc., will slowly wear away the oxidized patina leaving a shiny silver finish.
