When I think of old cemeteries, I often include in my imagination the nature that fights to reclaim the space and aid in the processes of decay. Creeping vines, sprawling bushes, sprouting grasses- all of these plants help transform the deceased into energy to feed the cycle of death and rebirth.
Atop this heavy cuff bracelet rests a glittering pyrite coffin; the edges of this stone are polished and the top is raw cut for extra shine. The cuff itself is constructed of half-round silver and is wrapped with a silver vine. Beside the coffin sits a carved jade leaf. The cuff is held secure on the wrist with a chain and hook clasp. The backside of the coffin is stamped with my maker's mark (BLJ). All of the silver has been given a satin finish and is oxidized, a process which creates the blackened or antiqued appearance on silver. The raised points have been polished to shine, while the low points retain the oxidized color to show off the depth and details. All metal used in this piece is sterling silver.
The diameter of this cuff bracelet is 2.55", the circumference of the cuff itself is 6.5", and the opening is 1.4". It is meant to be slid over the wrist held sideways, then secured with the chain and clasp. Bending or twisting the bracelet will damage the metal and are not advised.

A few notes on caring for oxidized sterling silver: oxidized patina on sterling silver isn't particularly durable to long-term exposure to water (like bathing or swimming) or a lot of scrubbing, as friction is the way to polish silver to shine. Constant exposure to tasks such as hand washing, bathing, swimming, washing dishes, etc., will slowly wear away the oxidized patina leaving a shiny silver finish.
